About

I am not sure what compelled me more to blog: the fact that I want people to read what I wrote, or for the plain reason- I can. Maybe a little of both?
I love to write. I want to be acknowledged as a writer... eventually. I love how reading can take you somewhere, and I have a desire to provide that for someone, someday. I prefer fiction; although, I would be lying if I said I did not appreciate creative nonfiction as well.

I want to become a better writer and share my ideas, and what is going on in my head.

I took a creative writing class. Usually the random word vomit that I produced was not something I ever wanted to share with the class. That, and I tend to be shy in a classroom setting, but I love writing.

That what this really is. A creative outlet. A reason to write. An excuse. As an Environmental Science major, creative writing tends not to be a priority. But eventually, I would like to be published. One day. And not just in a scientific journal.

Mytopia

The name for this blog, "[dia]mytopia" can be broken up into 3 different affixes:

dia: greek origin meaning through
my: of or belonging to me.
topia: greek origin meaning place

Of course I made up this word for the purposes of my blog, and to use it as a disclaimer that there may will not be any rhyme or reason to the topics of my posts.

Further unimportant information:
The word Utopia means "not a place." Maybe you have read Thomas Moore's novel Utopia, which describes a perfect society, which we know... can never exist.

Dystopia is the opposite: a place of corruption and oppression. A place of complete unpleasantness. Also a novel genre that I am quite partial too.

Mytopia is my place. Where I can flush out and flesh out ideas that swim around in my brain. Rant about random things, and just write for the sole purpose of writing.

Diamytopia is through my place.
